To protect life, property and the environment from fire and other emergencies whilst protecting and supporting our personnel and continuously improving.
At the SA Country Fire Service (CFS), it’s a real team effort and we need lots of team players with different skills. You don’t have to be out there holding the hose fighting fires – we also need people to do things like operating the radio, logistics, administration, catering and lots more.
You never know what challenges you’ll be facing next week, but one thing’s for sure – it will never be boring.
“A healthy community needs active participants”
Many current volunteers say they joined the CFS to protect and help their local communities. And the pay? Well, there isn’t any. But the rewards are many – learning new skills, keeping fit, gaining valuable qualifications, earning respect within the community, having fun, being active as part of a team. We really do make a difference.
The face of Blackwood Country Fire Service volunteer has changed over the years. From early beginnings as the Blackwood EFS, support from our local community has always been strong. Our members are made up of students, trades people, accountants, local business owners, Government employees and other emergency services staff (Metropolitan Fire Service and SA Police personnel).
